“I believe in whole body wellness while incorporating all aspects of healthcare for the patient; physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and environmental. I will listen to the patient and identify their specific needs unique to them. This allows us to establish a therapeutic relationship. This foundation allows for identification and removal of barriers that may prevent them from achieving optimal health and wellness.”
Heidi was born in Michigan and has lived in the UP for the last 25 years with her family. While working in healthcare, she began to recognize the need for patients in our communities to have a provider that understood their challenges and shared the love of the rural areas in which we live, work, and play. She witnessed providers establish positive relationships with their patients and then just leave the area, forcing our population to seek care elsewhere. She wanted to change that by becoming a provider that stayed in the area and established those relationships that foster improved health and wellness. Her work includes several roles within rural critical access hospitals including obstetrics, surgery, and the general medical floor both in Ironwood and Ashland, Wisconsin.
Upon earning her graduate degree, she worked as a travel nurse in an academic facility. This allowed her to expand her knowledge base. Afterwards, her first Nurse Practitioner role was in a Urology department. Heidi felt honored to serve her community as a practitioner taking the time to listen and care for her patients. She remained sensitive to her patients’ vulnerabilities and helped set them at ease while they shared their most private concerns. Heidi was drawn to LVDHC upon learning of the exceptional care provided. Her expectation that the patient will always be at the center of our efforts, and we are their partners in whole body health and wellness, is a belief shared with LVDHC.
In her spare time, Heidi enjoys volunteering, and traveling to National and State parks with her family. She also loves camping, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, snow shoeing, downhill skiing, and spending time with her 2 children, cat and dog.
